A post is not hidden (or the wrong one is)
Facebook, Instagram and X change their pages often, which can break detection. Please tell us:
- the site and the kind of page (home feed, a post’s comments, a profile, search…);
- the account that should have been hidden (its @handle or profile link);
- your browser and the extension version (shown on your browser’s extensions page).
Please do not send screenshots that show other people’s private messages or personal information.
Frequently asked questions
Does Oubliette block or report anyone?
No. Hiding only changes what you see in your own browser. Hidden accounts are not blocked, muted, reported or notified, and nothing is sent to Facebook, Instagram or X.
How do I hide an account?
Click the small eye-off button next to the account’s name, or right-click their name and choose “Hide this account with Oubliette”. You can also add accounts in the extension’s options.
How do I see a hidden post or undo a hide?
Click “Show” on a blurred post to see it once, use “Undo” in the confirmation, or remove the account from “Hidden accounts” in the extension’s options. To keep seeing someone who is on a list you subscribed to, add them to “Exceptions”.
Do I need an account?
No. Without an account everything stays in your browser. An account (Google or GitHub) is only needed to sync between browsers, share lists and subscribe to others’ lists.
How do I report a list in the directory?
Open the list and use “Report”. Moderators review every list before it appears in the directory.
How do I delete my data?
See the privacy notice. Removing the extension deletes everything it stored in your browser.
